1999 Letter! |
We would like to wish you God's richest blessings for the new millenium. It seems like unexpected things came when we planned to send our letter for 1999, but we know how much you would like to know what is happening with Rodica and Eric. That's why we decided to go ahead and write this letter.
In the past year we learned many things:
|
We had the privilege of having Mamica and Taticu (Rodica's mother and father) alternating between visiting Magdalena and us for one year beginning in April of 1998. During that time, Eric found out from watching Mamica and eating her food, how Rodica became such a great cook, and sweet person J When we think of Taticu, we think of a man of fervent prayer, and diligent student of the Bible. For Taticu, time is so valuable. Any moment he has he studies the Bible…not losing a minute (even when at Zoo walking.) He was able to read the Bible through twice in English while he stayed here, first time having to translate almost every word into Romanian. We enjoyed many activities with Mamica, Taticu |

and Mom (Eric's Mother). |

Eric has the privilege of belonging to a family with a history of high cholesterol. In spite of a vegetarian diet, during this past year, Eric found out that he also had high cholesterol (240). As a result, in spite of not being used to eating fruits, he decided to force himself to start eating them and go on a strict diet and exercise program. Today, Eric is eating blended fruits every morning, and actually enjoying them! If you want the recipe, please send $19.99 plus shipping and handling ($.01) and a self-addressed stamped envelope, California residents include 7.75% sales tax, and we will send it to you, promptly. We found a friendly small church a few miles outside of San Diego in a town called Dulzura. This church is like a family. We became close friends with Edith and Andy Lind, and learned about MSG and other Excitotoxins (toxic substances that excite brain cells to death, found to be linked to Alzheimer's, Lou Gehrig's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's disease). These are in almost all packaged foods today. |

In September, we spent our vacation in Romania, at Herghelia Preventive Medical Center, the same place we had our wedding reception. At Herghelia, we observed what powerful changes take place in people's lives, when they follow 8 natural remedies spelling out NEWSTART… Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust in God. Eric's cholesterol after the two weeks was 155. |

We enjoyed hiking in the Carpatien Mountain's, facing Dracula's Castle. After going to Romania, Eric started a web-site for Herghelia on our home computer, with streaming videos. Please visit us at www.herghelia.org. In fact, you may view the videos behind the pictures in this letter at our web site on the same computer at www.herghelia.org/hillis.htm. |

Mom had another roller coaster ride this year with her health, but she is now embarking on a new diet program, so we think the roller-coaster ride might settle down this year. Mom is quite determined to eat more vegetables, and to start eating some fruits. Also she is determined to not eat what she likes anymore, but to learn to like eating foods that she normally doesn't. We are so happy with mom's determination, because we want mom to live longer and happier. |

We always appreciate having our sister Magdalena near us to help when we need advice on health and nutrition. Or when we have to go to Romania and we need someone to be close to Mom. Or when we need an extra VCR to copy family videos. Or when we want to stay and enjoy the beautiful Coronado Shore spa and resort. Or when we have too many guests and we need help cooking. |
|
The most important thing we learned in this past year is that the key of success in our family and personal life is to stay close to God, and have a strong relationship with Him. We are thankful to God for our family and friends. You are very important and precious to us. Thank you for your loving support and encouragement in our New family start. May God bless you abundantly in this New Year. |
